Hey, Heather --- Do You Remember?
Saturday night, Dean and I went to yet another Concert here in Lincoln City. It was so much fun to re-visit a duo that we saw in Concert nearly 25 years ago in Pueblo, Colorado. Billy was just an infant and Heather was 12 years old and smitten by the Australian duo "Air Supply."
They were great way back then, and they are still going strong. The only two missing at this concert were Heather and Billy! What fun that would have been!
Air Supply has been doing their unique style of music for 35 years and I never get tired of listening to them. Did you know that they started out playing in a Pizza Parlor? Someone discovered them, and the rest is history!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, AUBREY!
To my beautiful "first" Granddaughter, who was also her parents' firstborn; I wish you all that you can be and all that you desire today. We are all so blessed to have you in our lives. My memories of you as a little girl are as clear today as though they were remembering you just yesterday. I marvel at the amazing young woman that you have grown into! Yours has been an amazing life's story and I hope that you are recording it for future generations.
Enjoy your day, Aubrey, and never forget just how much I love you -- how much you are loved by everyone!

The Gift...
Fifty years ago, on March 26, 1959, Gerry and I received a most amazing gift. It wasn't wrapped in bright colored paper, it didn't have a beautiful bow, and it wasn't even accompanied by a card. It didn't cost the giver any money, and yet its value was priceless. This gift came from Heavenly Father in the form of a beautiful baby daughter. We chose the name of Kimberlee Laurie Henderson to be the name that she would be known as for her entire sojourn on earth.
Kimberlee was the most beautiful baby and brought into our lives a bounty of new experiences and filled each and every day with joy as we watched her grow. The most fun part was experiencing the development of her amazing personality. She was always a happy child and I don't remember her ever complaining -- even through a dozen moves in her young life.
Today, she is still beautiful, and still amazing. She has grown into the woman that I always hoped she would be. Gerry and I laid the foundation, and she built upon it. I thank my Heavenly Father each and every day for that first gift.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KIM! I love you more than words can ever tell and give thanks for the eternal nature of our relationship.

Happy Birthday, Marcus...and soon, Mark!
Today, my little Marcus Henderson will be 7 years old! My, oh my, how time flies! I wish I could be there to help the little guy celebrate his birthday. It seems like they just grow up so darned fast. Before I know it, he'll be all grown up and off to college. Happy Birthday, little Marcus! I love you, tons!
And, on Saturday, it will be Mark's birthday. Happy Birthday to you, too, son. I love you more than you will ever know and wish there was some way that I could be there for you, too. I love my kids so much, and as the days go by, I think I miss each one of them more and more.

Happy St. Patrick's Day...
March 17th is the traditional day to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. It is an Irish tradition, and the "wearin' o' the green" is also traditional, because, after all, Ireland is "The Emerald Isle!"
So, I will keep this brief and just take this opportunity to wish all who care to "browse" here, a Happy St. Patrick's Day. Having a wee bit of Irish blood in my wee bones, makes this an occasion that I really love to participate in.

'Tis the "Ides of March..."
I've often wondered what historical event surrounded the "Ides of March." So, I did a little research. "Ides" is Latin and it means 1/2 division of a month. "Ides" was the 15th day of the months of March, May, July, and October in ancient Rome and signified the day of the full moon. It was the 13th day of all other months. In March, on the 15th, there was a festive day set aside dedicated to the God Mars. Military parades were held on that day.
Julius Caesar was not a popular ruler because he took on the role of Dictator, which the people abhored. And so, there was a conspiracy to take his life. That was portrayed in Shakespeare's "Julius Caesar." It was on the 15th day of March, when Marcus Brutus uttered the line, "Beware the Ides of March!." And so, Julius Caesar lost his life and his throne. His son, Octavian became the next Roman leader and the first Emperor of Rome. He took on the name of Caesar Augustus!
Romulus was the mythical founder of Rome and used the earliest Roman Calendar. All months were organized around three (3) days: Kalends, which is the 1st day of the month; Nones, which is the 7th day of March, May, July and October and the 5th day of all others; and Ides, which is the 15th day of March, May, July and October and the 13th day of all others. The word "Calendar" comes from the word Kalends. Some other interesting words coming from that root are Kalendrium, which is an account book, and Kanend, which being the first day of the month is when all bills were due.
There you have it! Your trivia for the day!

It's someone special's Birthday, March 5!
She's a beauty. She's a dancer. She has poise and charm. She's quiet. She's a touch of sunshine on a rainy day. She's the picture of a Scottish/Irish lassy. And her name is Randi Elizabeth Sanders -- and she's one of my most precious Granddaughters.
Hey, Randi! I did some research to see who might have been born on or near your birthday, and my favorite that I came up with was Elizabeth Barrett Browning! Her birthday is March 6th. And I thought it was neat that you bear her name for your middle name! I love Elizabeth Barrett Browning. My favorite poem is from "Sonnets of the Portuguese" in which she says, "How do I love thee, let me count the ways..." Look her up on the Internet. She had a fascinating short life and love story.
I thought I would just share that little tid-bit of trivia with you and take this opportunity to wish you a very, very Happy Birthday! And don't worry about "getting old" -- you will never catch up with me! Ah! To be 19 again! Well, maybe not! I think I'll pass all of that 20's stuff and trying to juggle a house, husband and kids on a day-to-day basis again. I like it where I'm at, thank you!
I love you, Randi! (There I go, saying it again!) I hope you never get tired of hearing just how much I do! Really!
